library art work

Every year the elementary grades get to display artwork at the library.  It is usually fun to try and find your child's artwork.  This year we found the list of what school is where.  We just had to find Bridger's then.  Some of the artwork is very interesting.  Bridger's piece, like his classmates was to draw a leaf/feather and then detail one section of your choice.  Bridger is pointing to his and then Darin-decided to "lug" his son up onto his shoulders-yes, all 93 pounds of him.
We have company this weekend.  R/J were able to make it over from Pinedale.  We had dinner with the Meline women last night.  Then Linnea and I went to see Water for Elephants.  At 9:30 last night it was discovered that Sammy has ear infection.  I was able to help them out and get a prescription called in before Walgreen's closed at 10pm.  It is nice to be able to do things for your friends.
Bridger, as usual, has a busy day.  There is supposed to be baseball practice, but it did snow/rain all day yesterday.  If practice is on-well, he won't be wearing white.  He was invited to a sleep over to another boy in his class that moved into a brand new house.  Maybe we can have an adult dinner out tonight.

Day Off

Bridger and I had the day off on Monday.  It was a built in snow day but did not have any this year.  He has been bugging me to go golfing but it has still been pretty cold and wet.  I set up his net for him instead and he had fun.

We had a nice Easter.  We attended church, went out for an Easter brunch and then headed to the boat club to check things out.  The lake is full as expected since we have the potential for record flooding.  They are filling all of the reservoirs early.  Every year Nebraska is whining for our water but now they don't want it.

Bridger had baseball tonight.  We lucked out and were between storms.  It was still cold.  During batting practice Bridger was doing great until the coach pitched inside and he took a swing at it.  The ball hit right on his middle finger.  I don't think his hands being cold helped any.  He was trying to fight back tears.  I took him aside and checked it out and he stepped back in and finished his turn.

Not much else happening here.  I hope everyone is surviving spring.

Easter Sunday

I knocked on the door and who should appear

Gratitude abounded

no-tie shoes-Daddy doesn't have matching

And he went right back to Halo....
Yesterday was one of those sporadic productive days.  I went to water aerobics, dropped off a DVD, recycled papers and back home.  We all headed to Pottery by You and made some things (Mother's Day is coming).  Then BK drive thru while on our way to baseball practice.  I took a book and spent the 1 1/2 hours in the truck.  Bridger came away with a smile on his face and liking baseball.  I did get out when I saw they were having batting practice.  Bridger managed to be last to bat.  He stood up there and whacked the first two pitches.  He is doing well compared to the other boys.  This is is his first year and some are in their second year.

After practice we were on a mission for basketball shoes for basketball camp in June (Spearfish).  No luck, we went everywhere but Walmart.  They probably have them there.  At the local sporting goods store we found some, but not for the price that his feet will out grow them.  Or let me say none that I want to wear after he outgrows them next fall.  We did find a baseball bat that fits him now.  He loves it-more on that later.

After having BK for lunch-you know fast food isn't very filling, we decided to treat ourselves to Mexican.  I was stuffed and threatened to walk home.  I didn't, but after we got home, I did some cardboard flattening and then we went to the Verda James park.  Bridger and I headed off with Shasta.  MY thought was Shasta could retrieve the whiffle balls.  He did and mouthed them to the point that in 10 minutes he broke two balls.  Darin managed to come along about then with tennis balls.  YEAH FOR DADDY.  Shasta still wasn't so cooperative.  He literally would only go get the ball that he brought to Darin who was pitching.  He also got whacked at several body parts by Bridger's hits.  We did that for probably 1/2 hour and begged Bridger to leave.  He was having so much fun.  You could tell from his swings he was getting tired, but he kept saying he was not tired and he JUST WANTED ONE MORE PITCH.  He has never shown that much enthusiasm before.  It was hard to say no, we are going home.

I still wasn't done.  We vacuumed after we got back and scooped  poop.  I planted some strawberries.  Then I asked Bridger if he would like to walk to Safeway to return another movie.  He opted to ride his bike.  Finally, I got them into the hot tub and that was the end of the day for me.  Bridger announced he was up rather late watching a movie in his room.  He was up bright and early today and woke me up.  After he went back to his room I got up and did the Easter basket.  Darin is, yes, it is true, now ironing their dress shirts for church services.  I don't think we know which place we are going.  We have reservations for Easter brunch at the Goose Egg Inn.  Sounds delightful, huh?  Happy Easter all.

Good Friday

Bridger made it in the paper.  He was pretty excited when I showed him the sports section and he was in it.  This is a picture from his last hockey tournament.

We had a pretty lazy day.  We lounged around in the morning after a huge nerf gun war.  The baby and momma unit ganged up on the daddy unit. About noon Bridger got invited to a friends house.  We went to Menards and got some things while Bridger was gone and then he had his first baseball practice in the afternoon.

Practice was cold.  Bridger started out with a baseball cap on but soon asked for a gator for his neck and then a stocking cap.  The sun eventually came out but with 40 mph winds it only helped a little.  We have practice again tomorrow,  hopefully warmer.

I hope everyone had a good Good Friday.  Here is a quote from an older Wyoming based movie that was on the other night.

CPR Training

Bridger doing cpr with the fire guys.  Ginni had to work late last night and Bridger said he wanted to come with me the fire department instead of sitting in Ginni's office.  I said fine since I was just teaching our annual cpr class.  I started the classroom part and thought Bridger was out in the day room but no he was right in the middle of all the firefighters ready to learn.  I was talking to someone during the hands on part and heard everyone yelling Captain get in here they got Bridger doing cpr.  Two of the guys Bridger knows well grabbed him to be in their group.  You can't tell but he has a huge smile on his face.

Bridger and I have a four day weekend and Ginni has a three.  I am not sure what our plans are.  Bridger has baseball practice on Friday and Saturday so we will stick around for that.  Happy weekend everyone.

spectacles

Guess who got glasses?  This was my first day.  Bridger and Darin both said something right off the bat.  I am far sighted and have been having trouble with the close up stuff.  Not so good for putting in and taking out stitches.  I got blended bi-focals.  I actually got two pairs.  This pair is the more stylish.  I can't say what I was thinking or doing in the "pursed" lips pose.  Darin caught me off guard.

I accepted a job today.  I had been thinking I was going to turn it down, but they came back and offered me my same salary.  I won't be able to "bring" patients with me.  That is sad too me, but life goes on.  The 5th person quit today, at least that is what I heard after 5pm.  That makes 5 of us since the beginning of April.  There is only one left to quit.  She was the one that started all this gotta do something.  I don't care if she makes a grand exit, but we all said we would do this and support each other emotionally.  She better do it.

Bridger didn't have baseball practice tonight.  At practice time-it was snowing.

Shoes of Summer

Shoe shopping.  Bridger starts baseball tomorrow and he needed cleats so we went shopping to get some.  After we found the cleats Bridger found some father son shoes.  The last pair are ones that he has had for a while.  They are his favorite he would wear them every day if he could.  He and Ginni share them since they fit both of them.

Ginni made it back safe.  We picked her up from the airport last night and then had dinner at Perkins.  Wow, really exciting.  Today was a lazy day.  We got up and then made it to the athletic club.  Ginni and Bridger went swimming while I lifted.  I went in to check on them and there was a sign on the door that said the pool was closed until Tuesday.  Oops, that is why they had the whole pool to themselves.

After the gym we had lunch and then got some errands done.  Now we are just enjoying the evening.  Back to work in the morning.  I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

More Ski Pictures

Here are some more pictures from our skiing weekend.  The first two are in Red Lodge on Saturday.  The last one is at the Irma in Cody.  This is what you do after a day of skiing, play Wii in the hotel room.

Bridger and I have been on our own for the past couple of days.  We have managed to eat, do dishes and laundry and get to school on time.  We have been pushing the bed time a little.  Tonight he is doing a sleep over with the neighbor.  Ginni gets home tomorrow.

Bridger starts baseball on Monday.  The weather has not been good though.  It has been chilly and wet.  It did snow yesterday and then early this morning.  Not good baseball weather.  I got asked by the coach if I could help out so I guess I will be an assistant coach this year.

I have not let Bridger watch the news about the Red River anymore since he got so worried last weekend and he had to call ND to make sure everyone was ok.  We have the potential to have record flooding here this year.  We are already on alert with the fire department.
I hope everyone is doing well and has fun plans for the weekend.

We are a little slow getting an update to the blog.  I started downloading this video of Bridger biffing it on the magic carpet run.  Magic Carpet is to the right of the picture.  At 3:30pm, 1/2 before the resort closed, I finally "ran" into my boys again.  I suggested with what time we had left Bridger try his board.  When Bridger got to the top (magic carpet) they told him he needed a strap.  I "ran" to the shop and bought one, but by the time it all played out-he never went back up and tried again.

These were on the first run of the day.  When Bridger heard his voice he said he didn't know you could hear everything too!!  We had a fun day skiing.  At Buffalo Bridger was tired or something.  He was acting up so much.  He cried easily.  It got so bad, because I am a mean MOMMY, that he rode with Darin up the chairlifts.  Hence, the pictures of me alone.

Bridger did tell me sorry for how he acted on Saturday though.  After spending this weekend with Bridger it was very clear how much Darin loves me.  I saw all my negative ornery self in Bridger when he was frustrated with trying something new.  I realize ALL of you can't believe that!!!

Bridger had just showed us about seeing your breath.

Bridger trying to do moguls with Darin

Darin decided Bridger could ski some more difficult terrain.  He took off with Bridger and did that.  I kept skiing the same runs waiting for them.  I got cold and bored and headed over to the other side of the mountain wondering what happened to them.  I didn't have pockets so I didn't have my phone.  It was a nice long jaunt back to the vehicle.  When I got ahold of Darin they were actually at the lodge.  Figures.

We drove into Billings and got a room at a hotel with an indoor water park.  I had called for reservations on Friday and they said they were full for Sat.  I tried again on our way to Billings and they had rooms.  I think I got a lazy person Friday.  Bridger had lots of fun with us on the slides and then he liked the obstacle course.  We actually got him out of there fairly easily because he was hungry.  We decided to try Texas Roadhouse and got in within 10 min.  We had a nice meal and when we got back to the hotel-we crashed.

Darin wanted to do some shopping before we left.  He scored on some eye bolts for the boat lift that he hadn't been able to find in Casper.  We headed home.  It was a beautiful weekend weather wise.

just a little snow at the top

Darin's view up from a chute he tried

i spent a bit of time alone-notice the view, though
We made it up to Meadowlark Resort around 1pm.  We had the mountain almost to ourselves.  It is a nice small resort.  Everyone was friendly.  I had to ride up with the ski patrol once and he didn't have anything nice to say about Casper.  Bridger didn't show much enthusiasm for skiing today.  We kept him going and when he finally got motivated he skiied very well.  Course, then it was the end of the day.

We got to Cody around 6:30pm.  I wanted to take a shower before we went to dinner.  After I was out the phone rang.  It was the front desk of the Irma Hotel telling us that we had to be careful in showering because some how there is a leak through the ceiling/floor into the lounge below us.  Oops!

We still plan to head to Red Lodge tomorrow.

adventure for us

We are growing tomatoes on the dryer.  Don't you?  They have been getting tilted due to the desire for sun that is to the right of them.  So I keep turning them.  It will be interesting to see how many tomatoes we get.  They are reds and some yellow "cherry" size ones.
We are heading northwest of Buffalo today to ski.  The boys are "sick".  I have the day off.  We hope to ski and then drive onto Cody to spend the night.  We plan to drive to Red Lodge in the mornign to ski again.  On Sunday I have taken the BIG hint that someone wants to go into Billings.
There is a hockey meeting about changing Bridger's leauge that we should get back for on Sunday night.  Shasta also has to come out of the kennel Sunday evening.
Today when Bridger asked what we were doing I explained about skiing.  His response was, "oh, if I had went to school today I could have went to the advanced math class".  It woudl have been his first time and it is only on Fridays for him.  I thought to myself-hmm, where did this kid come from?

Skiing Photos

I found some older photos of Bridger.  The first one is his first time skiing in Jackson at Snow King.  The second he is driving the team through the elk feed grounds.  The last two are from a Terry Peak ski trip.  We would like to get one more weekend of skiing in but a lot of the ski hills closed last weekend.

We are having a typical spring here.  We had a record high of 74 on Saturday and then 34 and snowing on Sunday.  This week is chance of moisture and high winds.  Big surprise.

I hope everyone is enjoying life.
