Track Day

Bridger's School decided to have a track day in the fall.  They had track day today.  It was a nice fall day.  Last school year they scheduled track the day before school was to get out and it rained.  No chance for make up.  The above picture is before Bridger ran his 200m race.

Bridger got 4th in the 200m race.  He also ran the 50mg race, ran 3rd leg in the 400m relay and threw shot put.  The kids got to pick 3 events they wanted to be in.  I was happy to see Bridger didn't pick the 800m or the 400m.  They did have a 50m hurdle and Bridger probably could have done it.  He wasn't sure about it at first and we watched the race together.  Maybe next year....
The relay team got 1st.  I was so proud of him today.  He kept telling me he would be happy with 4th and 5th, as long as he didn't get just a "participant" ribbon.  So he got bona fide placement ribbons.  Yeah!  Bridger!!!

Bridger is running his 200m race.

tough guy

I asked Darin if he could come up with some pads and pants for Bridger.  Bridger keeps talking about getting to play tackle football in the Midget Football program next year.
This is his GRRRR!!! Face.  He does look like he could do some damage.
Tough guy has a propensity to pester his mother.  His mother can still take him down.  It won't be much longer until he is the general victor.  He didn't like it when I showed him my "sitting on you!!!" move.
Just having fun.  I think I might have talked him into wearing these things for a costume for his school Halloween party.  We went to the Halloween Costume store last night.  He is bound and determined to look like some scary, ghost creature.  I was proud, though, that when he didn't find exactly what he wanted and heard they would be putting out more stuff, he was willing to wait.
When we had Darin to ourselves on Wed eve we went to the playground.  Bridger decided to show us what he IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO ON THE PLAYGROUND.  He did manage to get down without injury and we left for DQ,  YUMM-O!!!

Sports

We took this picture some time ago to capture all the sports that Bridger has participated in.  He is not as "crazy" about basketball as much as Darin or I would like.  Otherwise he seems to like all the others.  Yesterday, he was put to a mighty task of 3 sports in a span of 4 hours.

He had tennis right after school, then hockey try-outs and onto flag football in the evening.  He got about a 40 min break between football and hockey.  We have to do football and hockey again on Thursday.  Since he has moved up in divisions in hockey he has to try out for the travel team. This Tuesday and Thursday and next Tu/TH are the travel team try-outs.   I would say he has a pretty good shot at making the team since his father is the Squirts head coach.  I found out the practice times for Squirts will be 3 nights a week and a 6:30am practice on Fridays for the travel team.  I am not happy about that one, but neither is Darin.  It might be a loooong winter.

I still don't think they really keep score in flag football.  I remember seeing our team score twice and the other team once.  The time flew by as I was honored with Darin's presence since the game didn't start until 7pm and he could make the game.  We chatted with other parents who were also trying to watch the game.  It was a fairly nice evening to be standing outside.  Bridger's team is the Steelers.

What he'd rather be doing

Seems like Summer zipped right by us.  We seem to generally say by the end of summer, wish we would have done more of that....
Overall it wasn't too bad of a summer.  We got a couple of sport camps in and out of town.
We golfed and boated.  We made it to Pinedale and down to the townhouse.  We got to North Dakota.

Now it is football season.  Bridger will be a Steeler for flag football.  Darin's 9th grade team isn't looking too bad and the Varsity is doing quite well.  So on we go....

Vikings

This is also something that Bridger got while in North Dakota.  He looks pretty handsome in purple also, compared to Orange or hmmm-GREEN.

We got back into the groove on our "Monday-Tuesday".  We played "Scene-It" last night and as usual laughed and laughed.  Bridger is sure getting a sense of humor.  He reminds me of someone very near and dear to me, who also has red hair.  Bridger stood up in front of Darin last night and I couldn't believe how big Bridger is and how big he COULD be.  Maybe he will make it to pro-football.

Labor Day

We said our goodbyes this morning and headed home.  Believe it or not, this was the better of the goodbye pictures.  We had a nice weekend in Bismarck.  Bridger got lots of swimming done at the indoor pool.  He even got Grammy to buy him a new video game.  He has been playing it since we got home.  Good thing we did our reading on the way home today.
Several times on our trip back and forth through North Dakota I have wanted to stop for sunflower pictures.  Bridger couldn't believe how big the heads were.  I showed him how deep the seeds were and we dug one out.
Bridger had to try it.  I told him they weren't dried out or salted.  It didn't stop him.  He first told me that it didn't have any taste.  Then he said it must have a taste, which wasn't good because he had bad after taste.

We zipped along home.  It was a nice sunny day.  Bridger "built" a man cave with the window shade.  It was the perfect cover for the DVD player so he could see the screen.  He described his man cave to be like the magic tent in Harry Potter movies-where magic made it bigger inside than it appeared outside.  He had a swimming pool, hot tub, ice arena, recliner, refrigerator, and several other things.  It made for interesting conversation along the way.

zoo

 Lions and

  tigers and bears, OH MY!!!

We did  a little run through the Dakota Zoo this morning before lunch.
Grandparents and Grandson waiting for the train.  The train was a quick way to see all the things in the zoo and then go back and look more at what you really liked.
Mom and son captured with a "disposable" camera.  The camera I brought doesn't seem to want to open and a PERSON, otherwise known as  "forget to charge your smartphone" person, couldn't use the cell phone to take pictures.  I can't even find where the pictures are on my smartphone-just as a sideline.
I captured this one just as Grandpa Roger was pointing towards something, not at Bridger like it seems.  I thought it was kind of funny.

Bridger and Grandpa Roger hung out at the hotel and Bridger swam this afternoon after lunch, while Grammy and I went and did some shopping.  I got the film developed-obviously.  Bridger has fallen asleep in bed under the covers.  That doesn't happen very often on a Saturday afternoon.  Guess he is a little wore out.
