Happy Halloween

Here is Bridger's football team picture.  He had a good season and enjoyed the game.  He is excited to get to move up to tackle football next year.
We are on high alert at NC today.  The box on the roof, top right, is a sniper box.  The school found writings from an unknown student that said today would be worse than Columbine at NC.  Most parents have kept their kids home today.

Bridger's school on the other hand is getting to enjoy the day normally.  He is going as an  NC football player (with full pads).  It should be a hit since most of the teachers are KW fans.  Tonight he will change into another costume.  We are having the Meline's over for snacks and trick or treating.  It should be fun.  The forecast is for 58 tonight but windy.

We have our semi finals game Friday against Cheyenne East.  It should be a good game.  Hopefully we will then be at state the next week.

Have a safe Halloween.

Bridger likes this movie.

Pumpkin Carving

Bridger seeded his pumpkin before we went to PE club.
He sat with Gage (middle) and a friend from hockey.
He did all of the work himself.
The finished product.

For PE club yesterday we had a pumpkin carving contest.  Bridger was in the finals but got beat by his friend from hockey.  His friend had 5 brothers that voted for his and helped him win.  The good part was he did carve his by himself like Bridger.  Many of the others were carved by the parents.

Last night Linnea was home alone so we invited her to dinner at the Country Club.  After dinner we went to NC for the haunted house.  I try to support the school.  We waited in a hot hallway for 2 hours and then had a 5 minute spook house that ... well sucked.  I am sorry but will not recommend it to others.  Afterwards I took them up to my classroom and then on the roof.  I think we found a new place to watch fireworks next summer.

Today has been a lazy day.  We stayed home relaxing and watching football.  We are resetting and getting ready to run come Monday.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Avatar

Mid-week Bridger and I took another run at the Halloween stores.  I wanted to find something for me to wear to the Halloween Party that we went to last night.  Bridger, of course, was willing to find another costume.  I didn't care for the first one he picked out.  It seems like most years Bridger has one or two costumes for whatever Halloween events he gets to attend.
If my memory would serve me correctly, he asked about being an Avatar before we found a costume.  Maybe not, but once he saw the opportunity he jumped.  The costume he picked had the clothing he is wearing and a mask.  I was thrilled at the chance to get to make his face up with paint.  Darin and I both told him he would get too hot with the latex mask playing at the party.
I showed him a video of someone doing the makeup and he agreed to let me go for it-1/2 hour before the party.  We got to the party an hour late, but everyone was amazed and impressed at Bridger's blue face.
We had a good time at the Porter's-(Gage's parents).  We knew many of the other families as most were invited from the kids' school friends.  Two families dressed up as characters from The Hunger Games.  There was one person dressed up as a Heavy Metal Rocker.  He had zebra striped skin tight leggings with a t-shirt and spiked-out purple hair.  He keeps his head shaved and to see him with hair was fun.  All the ladies commented on how good he looked in his leggings-he did too!  His wife would just smile-they have 4 kids.

Darin was able to join us for the last hour or so.  The Porters are die-hard Kelly Walsh fans, especially their 12 year old daughter.  She gives Darin the cold shoulder during football season.  There had been jokes about whether she would let him in the door if he wore black and orange.  She let him last night.  NC won 54-7 beating Rock Springs.  Kelly Walsh lost against Sheridan.  We are onto next weekend-could be close one with Cheyenne East.  They are very poor sports and they took NC out of state bid last year.
Bridger has a tail to his costume and I forgot to have him turn.  He didn't know what to make of that tail.  In the movie their tail often seems to have a mind of it's own.  It whips around just like a cat's would.  Bridger's didn't have much life, but did dutifully follow him around.   By the way--all the blue and black paint scrubbed off easily.
The Avatars from the movie wear their hair in a variety of braids.  We kept ours simple after all we put this together Wed and Thurs evenings after hockey.
And here is Momma Medusa.  I liked the wig and knew Bridger had plastic snakes I could weave through the hair strands.  Unfortunately, I had to tell people who I was.  One person asked me who I was supposed to be with "worms" in my hair.  Lots of other fun costumes and should have taken pictures to share other people's creativity.

More Photos

 Father and Son.
All decked out in his gear.
 Jampa and Gson.
Some of the wildlife we saw.

Just putting some more pictures on from the weekend.  Bridger is wanting to get out again.  I am not sure if we will make it.  If we do it will probably be in the Hills deer hunting.

It has been snowing all day here.  Not much accumulation though.  It is predicted to stop by tomorrow so dry for our first playoff game.  The high is 32 on Friday but we got the game bumped up an hour so will start at 6.

Bridger is doing well and enjoys picking on his mother.

I hope everyone is had a good Wednesday.

Hunting

Bridger looking down in the bowl above Fremont lake.
Down in the bowl.  It was snowing pretty good.

We had a nice weekend in Pinedale.  It was very wet and cold though.  We saw a lot of wildlife, moose, deer, fox, bald eagle and lots of bear sign, but nothing we we were hunting for.  The elk were there but stayed in the dark timber.  Bridger got a great hunting lesson with reading sign.  He enjoyed the hunt until we had to climb out of the bowl.  It was nice to get to hunt with Jampa.

We are now back in the swing of school, football and hockey.  Thank you for the nice weekend Jampa and Jammi.

Sir Bridger

Sir Bridger, noble knight of Steamboat.
 Ready for battle.
 peekaboo.

On our way home from Steamboat we stopped at an Irish Pub for lunch.  They had helmet all over that people could try on.  Bridger tried on every one.  He enjoyed playing knight.  It is a place that we will stop by again.

Bridger and I are planning on going to Pinedale and elk hunting this weekend.  We have a three day weekend and I am football free after Friday night.  Ginni does not have Monday off so will stay home.  Mom wanted me to get an antelope tag but I wanted to elk hunt.  So I decided to get something close to an antelope tag along with my elk tag.  Bridger is very excited.

We will have fun.  I also got a bird and small game license so Bridger can hunt with me.
I hope everyone is having a good start to the week.

The Boat

Ginni working in the upstairs bedroom.
Bridger enjoying being bundled up while it was snowing.
Note how high he is on the playground equipment.

I have figured out how to make our phones a hotspot so we have internet here at the townhouse.  We have had a successful weekend.  We got a little work done, played in town a little and relaxed a bit.

I got a call on Thursday that Bridger had an accident on the playground and I needed to pick him up.  He was having monkey bar races and fell landing on his back and head.  The nurse looked at him and said no bruising and sent him back to class.  After I talked with him I figured out that he had been knocked out and had the wind knocked out of him as well.  I believe he had a mild concussion.

I hope the roads will be dry on the way home today.  It has been snowing and raining the whole time we have been down here.

fall football

Just another fall day in Wyoming, at least over here on the eastern side of the state.  Our forecast last night was for 1"-4" overnight, depending on elevation.  This is Cheyenne however, this morning.  Darin had fun bus ride to Cheyenne.  They got there 15min before game time.  There 2 1/2 hour trip turned into 4 hours.  Darin found out that the two other Cheyenne teams cancelled their away games.  Atleast Darin's team won.

Bridger and I hung out.  I went to yoga this morning.  I am finding that I enjoy the stretching and love the 10-15 min meditation/relaxation at the very end.  I managed to shampoo the family room carpet and rearrange the furniture.  I got Bridger to work on some homework.

Darin and I have been telling him about The Three Stooges.  The other day I did one of their signature moves on him and he laughed and laughed-until he got a coughing fit going.  I had him do the move on Darin.  I was a little worried Darin would get his eyes poked out.  Bridger stopped just in time.  Today he pulled up a Stooges movie on Netflix, but it was their life story.  I found the newest version that came out this past year at Redbox (thanks Grandpa Roger) and rented it.  Darin and Bridger watched it while I made dinner.  Darin said he laughed and laughed.  His laughs are such a happy sound.

Last night NC's Varsity won again, 51-7.  It was their homecoming.  Bridger and I stayed home.  They are 7-0 and rated first in state.  There are 2 more regular season games to go, but it is another month before it is all over, if they make it to state.  Darin has one more freshman game and then there will be the play-offs/championship for the freshman.  Darin hopes to get over to Pinedale weekend after next for a little gun-carrying  hike.

Sick Days

This picture from flag football is from last week.  Those in the picture are Bridger, Gage and Barrett.   I don't know that other kids name.  This will be the last year Barrett plays football (flag).  Her dad said she had to gain 50lbs if she wanted to play tackle football.  Even though her Dad likes her being in sports,  I think he would like her to be in more girl sports.  He put his foot down about hockey last year.

I had a quick trip to Colorado this past weekend.  I took down a load of stuff that had accumulated here to be taken there.  It a nice drive.  The leaves are already turned there.  It was nice during the day and chillier at night.  I was glad to have been gone as both Darin and Bridger ended up coming down with some virus while I was gone.  They both have been home sick for two days.

Darin did go to football practice this afternoon.  Bridger is going back to school tomorrow-hopefully.
