Pinedale and Basketball

The Pinedale house.  The tracks in the driveway are from wildlife.
Bridger is in the corner, he just played the puck.
Bridger at the post.
The two biggest boys on the team.
Playing some D.

Bridger had a ball game Friday after school.  They won by about 15 points.  Bridger played good.  He has another game tonight.

We had a nice trip to Pinedale.  The boys played really good hockey.  We won one and lost one.  The second game was 3-2.  I tried pulling my goalie with a little over a minute left and he refused to come of the ice.  I was not a very happy coach with that.  At least this is just regular season.  We actually have next weekend off.  I am not sure what to do other than relax.

I hope everyone is staying warm.

Basketball

Bridger has another basketball game tonight and wanted to dress nice.
This is from Monday's game.  He has the ball at the point.

Bridger told me last night that he is tired of being exhausted.  He has had a very busy week between hockey, basketball and keeping his grades up since semester ends today.  It did not help that we started the week off with a long road trip home from Salt Lake.

Bridger had three basketball games this week.  He scored 4 points in his Wednesday game, almost 6.  I missed the game but he told me they were left handed layups.  I will be able to make his game tonight.  I am just glad he is so active and enjoys sports.  Basketball is over the second week of February so it is not a very long season.

Looks like snow is suppose to hit just in time for hockey in Pinedale.

More Grizz Cup

Bridger and one of his buddies.
This was the Canadian's locker room when the won the 2002 olympics.  Everyone was commenting on how Bridger is taller than the coach.
Bridger's wound.
The march to the ice.  Bridger is the tall one in back.
Getting ready in the locker room.

We had a good tournament in SLC.  Bridger played great.  We ended up getting beat 2 - 1 in the semi-final game so we did not play on Monday.  It actually worked out better for driving.  If we had won and played in the championship we would not have left until 4pm.

Bridger had a basketball game last night.  They won against Laramie.  He plays again tonight and then we head to Pinedale this weekend for hockey.  Lots of windshield time lately.  Hopefully we will have good roads.

Hockey and ER

At the Maverick Center, site of the 2002 hockey Olympics.
Playing on the Olympic ice.
Working on the Gordie.

 Our boy, our defenseman.
Can you guess where he shot to get his goal.
 Grinding it out on D.
 Standing tall at the net.
Headed to the box to complete the Gordie.

We were not sure if Bridger was going to play this morning.  He was playing mini-stick hockey last night and took a shot to the elbow.  It cut him open and the pain and numbness would not subside.  We took him to the ER and he had taken the blow right on the growth plate.  There was not an obvious break but not sure if he could play.

Bridger not only played but had an outstanding game.  He got his goal in the 1st period which got the adrenaline going.  Probably the best medicine he could have gotten.  He then got an assist in the 2nd.  He then took after a kid that kept trying to trip him earning himself a checking penalty.  Thus I am crediting him with a Gordie Howe hat trick.  The boys won 9 - 0.

After the game the pain came rushing back.  He took some ibuprofen and put his arm back in the sling.  He is now napping and getting ready for tomorrow.

First Game

Bridger during warm-ups.  He got new socks.
Waiting to start.
Lay up is good.
Another pregame shot.
Getting in the scrum.

Bridger had his first basketball game yesterday at CY.  They won by 30 some points.  Bridger did not have any baskets but had a couple of nice shots that rimmed out including a 3-pointer.  He played great defense and had a few beautiful blocks.  He did get a foul so I had to explain that he can not go over a players back to take the ball.  He had fun and slept well last night since he had hockey practice afterwards.

It is Official

He is a hockey official.
This his team Wyoming picture from Silver Stick.  He is in the center.
Ready for basketball, first game tomorrow.

Bridger had a good hockey weekend.  We played in Cheyenne and won both games.  Bridger played great defense.

Bridger has completed his level 1 hockey officials class and tests.  He is a certified official.  He has not officiated any games yet but is hoping to get a game soon.  The best part is that he gets paid.

He has his first basketball game tomorrow.  He is excited and nervous.  I think he will do fine.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Family photo.

We are done with break and running wild again.  Bridger is now playing hockey and basketball.  He wanted to play basketball again this year for his school.  He has his first game on Monday.  I made him go to practice Thursday so he would not be penalized for missing.  He was upset because it meant he would miss hockey.  I ensured him that I had an in with his hockey coach and it would be ok.  We have hockey in Cheyenne this weekend and then head to Salt Lake City next weekend for a Team Wyoming tournament.

Bridger had one of the sweetest goals I have seen before break.  He picked up the puck in our defensive end and was moving up.  I noticed the other team on a line change so I hollered for him to take it.  A skater on the other team got off them bench and caught him from behind at the top of the circle knocking him down.  He was sliding on his back and butt and was able to keep the puck on his stick.  He shot lying on his back and scored.  It was a great goal for our big defenseman.

I hope the new year is going well.
